The Continuum (2011-2012)

The Continuum was a series of webcomics made by James F. Wright and me from the fall of 2011 to the end of summer 2012. Using the 12 signs of the Geek Zodiac as a source of inspiration, we created 12 main characters (14 actually) and came up with an epic time travel adventure story that actually incorporated all the characters, each one of them representing a different genre of storytelling.

It was a massive undertaking, so we decided to make it more manageable by releasing a series of 4 to 6-page comics devoted to introducing each character. Once those were done, we would get into the story proper which would miraculously balance all of the 14 unique characters.

So we published the comic in typical webcomic fashion using WordPress with Comicpress but, unlike a typical webcomic, we came to the conclusion that this was a story best told in a monthly comic book format. This was one of the main reasons we shut down the site in the winter of 2012 and went back to our laboratories to strategize and reshape the overall story.

The official incarnation is called Geek Zodiac: Infinity Core. But, if you’re so inclined, you can read our first attempt at telling the story right here.

Be gentle, especially on my artwork. I was only a boy.

When we entered the next phase of the Geek Zodiac project The Continuum webcomic site was shut down and we began retooling the story and locking down the characters’ histories. Because of that retooling, the Wizard, Robot and Alien characters were not seen until The Geek Zodiac Compendium was published in the winter of 2013. However, you can see their appearances in The Four Facets, Re: Cognition and Infinity Core #1, respectively.
